Brunei darters for Kuching Open

Waqi USC Brunei Team will compete in the 3rd Kuching Open Threesome Dart Championship 2011 promising a total cash prize of RM19,000 from April 30 to May 1 in Kuching.

Finishing in third place in last year's meet, Waqi USC Brunei Team (Pg Mohamed Pg Hj Matarsad as team captain, Md Hairulazman Hj Bujang, Md Rafiee Rusli and Madeny Hj Jumat) are setting their target to win this year.

In an interview with the team captain yesterday, Pg Mohamed told the Borneo Bulletin that his team is currently undergoing intensive training to strengthen their stamina and mentality ahead of the competition.

"So far we are doing quite well reflecting to results on our recent friendly matches with some local clubs in the country. I hope the preparation and training will help us accomplish our target, which is to win the championship," said Pg Mohamed.

Waqi USC Brunei Team who won the Threesome Dart Open Championship in Bintulu late last year, would like to thank their sponsor for this upcoming trip.

"On behalf of the team, I would like to thank Steven Raaj, the Manager of Waqi Sdn Bhd for sponsoring our trip and to the Youth and Sports Department of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports for giving us permission to participate in the championship," said the Waqi USC Brunei team captain who will be leaving the country on April 29.

According to Pg Mohamed, Waqi USC Brunei Team's next competition after the Kuching Open will be the Open Dart Double Championship in Labuan from May 7-8.

A total of 60 dart teams from all over Borneo and several teams from Kuala Lumpur will participate in the championship to be held at the Supreme Hotel in Kuching.

Top 16 teams in the championship will win cash prizes with the champion getting RM6,000 and trophies, second place RM3,000 and trophies while third and fourth place will receive RM1,000 each and also trophies.
