The team winners from Brunei Darussalam
Bandar Seri Begawan - Team Waqi USC Top One and Waqi USC Top Tui outplayed 22 other teams to emerge joint champions of One Cue Sport Centre Darts Open Double Championship 2011 in Miri yesterday.
Both of the Brunei Darussalam teams advanced to the final after showing an outstanding performance defeating their respective opponents in the semi-final.
However, both teams - Waqi USC Top One represented by Pg Mohamed Pg Hj Matarsad and Mohd Raffie Rusli and team Waqi USC Top Tui darters Kamaluddin Hj Bungsu partnering with Saiful Rizal Ridzwan - skipped the finale to be named as the joint winner.
The duo of Pg Mohamed and Mohd Raffle outclassed darters of Segau Segau Super from Limbang 4-0 in the first semifinal, while Waqi USC Top Tui bettered Miri's Black Hawk team 4-1 in the second semi.
With the win, champions Waqi USC Top One and Waqi USC Top Tui walked away with RM750 and individual medals.
Third and fourth placing (Segau Segau Super and Black Hawk) bagged RM100 and medals.
Meanwhile, the teams which ended in fifth to eight spots of the May 21-22 competition- Black Jack 'A', Segau Segau Mix, Kena Bull and JS Darters - won a medal each.
Present to hand over the prizes and medals was the Manager of One Cue Sport Centre, Jordan Patrich and Sonny Sobeng.
Twenty-four teams took part in the two-day championship held in conjunction with the establishment of One Cue Sport Centre, which included four teams from Brunei Darussalam - Waqi USC Top One, Waqi USC Top Tui, Waqi USC 301 (Hamdan Aji and Awangku Faizal Pg Mohammad) and JS Darters (Sopian Matusin and James).
Several teams from Brunei Darussalam will next compete in the Limbang Darts Open Double slated for May 28-29 at Limbang Hall.
