Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei Darussalam's Waqi USC Top One finished third in the Threesome Dart Championship in Sibu recently.

Waqi USC Top One represented by Muhd Raffie Rusli as the team captain, Pg Mohamed Pg Hj Matarsad and Awang Madeny Jumat took home RM500 and medals for finishing as a second runner-up in the two-day championship from Jan 29-30.

Team All 4 One from the Federal Territory of Labuan emerged as the championship's winner after defeating Bintulu Fl in the final.

Champion All 4 One received RM4,000 and medals while the first runner-up, Bintulu F1 team bagged RM1,500 and medals.

Waqi USC Top One's team captain, Muhd Raffie said he was quite impressed with his team's performance and happy to have ended up in the third place.

"The game was well played in the first hurdle but we failed to repeat the same performance in the semifinal due to fatigue from the long journey to Sibu," said Mohd Rafaie.

A total of 44 teams from all over Borneo took part in the championship, divided into two categories - Threesome and Women's Single category. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin

Bandar Seri Begawan - WAQI USC One Dart Team from Brunei Darussalam finished third in the team event first division category of Labuan, Dart Master Open 2010 held in Labuan over the weekend.

The team of Pg Mohamed, Sofian, Sharol and Mohamad were denied to advance further by darters from the Philippines, Bull Shooter Dart Team who won the lst runner-up prize money of RM4,000 and trophy. Kitchen Darters Team from Sabah walked away with the RM8,000 cash prize and trophy as the champion.

WAQI USC One received RM1,200 and trophy.

Meanwhile, team KDKK (Serabah, Amiruddin, Pg Yamin, Pg Yakop and Bong) from Brunei Darussalam topped the team event second division category and snatched the RM1,000 and trophy prizes.

Finishing second was another team from Brunei, BSRC Bur (RM500 and trophy) and BDC from Papar, Sabah (RM300 and trophy) in third place.

In the first division Men's Single category, Lawrence Illagan from the Philippines was champion while Kuala Lumpur's Atan was first in the second division Men's Single category.

Two Sabahan women darters, Erika and Monika ended up as champion and 1" runner-up respectively in the Women's Single category.

The June 25-27 competition promised a total cash prize of RM40,000 which saw 58 teams from Brunei Darussalam, Philippines, Singapore, United States of America, Kota Kinabalu, Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur taking part.

Bandar Seri Begawan - Team BruMal 8881 were the champion of the Sabah Challenge 2010 Dart Championship held at the Sabah Community Hall in Kota Kinabalu over the weekend.

BruMal 8881 darters of Pg Mohamed Pg Hj Matarsad (team captain) and Mohd Hairolazman Hj Bujang (both from Brunei), Norshisame bin Wahab and T Anandan (both from Kuala Lumpur) snatched the champion prize money of RM7,000 and medals.

"I am really satisfied with the sportsmanship and top game play shown by the BruMal team till we were crowned champion after 3 days of competition," said BruMal team captain, Pg Mohamed.

Meanwhile, CB Revives darters from Kuala Lumpur came in second winning RM3,000 and medals followed by All 4 One (Labuan) and Handasan darters (Kota Kinabalu) in third and fourth place respectively grabbing RM1,000 and medals.

In the Men's Double Open, CB darters emerged victorious and took home RM1,500 and medals while in the Women's Open category, Marilyn from Sabah was the champion and won RM400 and medals.

Present to hand over the prizes and medals was Awang Sezali Abd Rahman, the sponsors and championship chairman. A total of 43 teams from Borneo and Peninsular Malaysia took part in the championship.

The next championship will be held in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia from April 16-18. Pg Mohamed of USC Top One (Brunei) will represent All 4 One team from Labuan in the team's category. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin

USC Top One emerged as the overall champion at the Men’s Double Open Dart Championship held at the Brunei Shell Recreation Club (BSRC) hall over the weekend.

USC Top One duo of Pg Mohamed bin Pg Hj Matarsad and Mohd Hairolazman bin Hj Bujang outclassed the partnership of Hj Salim and Razali of D’Rimba team with a count of 4-1.

The champion brings home $200 and a trophy while D’Rimba won $100 and a trophy.

Third and fourth places went to USC Top Two and BHD 7 respectively. USC Top Two were represented by Kamaluddin and Mohd Rafaie while Serabah and Pg Yamin of BHD 7 received $50 and a trophy each.

The President of Brunei Darussalam Dart Association Awang Zaini bin Kudi and Awang Jamadi, the championship chairman presented the prizes to the winners.

A total of 42 teams took part in the two-day championship organised by Brunei Shell Recreation Club. The championship, which is open to players nationwide, was organised for the first time by BSRC.

Meanwhile, Pg Mohamed and Mohd Hairolazman will represent BRUMAL team, playing alongside players from Kuala Lumpur in the team event at the upcoming championship to be held in Sabah from April 9-11.

Brunei Darussalam top darters Pg Mohamed Pg Hj Matarsad and Md Hairulazman Hj Bujang were third in the Men's Open Double Darts Mania at the Grand Borneo Hotel Ballroom in Kota Kinabalu over the weekend.

The duo, representing Waqi USC Top One team were beaten by Sabah's Fu Darters in a keenly contested semifinal match losing 3-2.

All 4 One team from Labuan were the champion after defeating Fu Darters 4-3 in the final. All 4 One advance to the final after winning against PDC Zoom 3 in the second semi-final with a score of 3-2.

The champion team from Labuan took away RM1,500 and a trophy, Fu Darters (RM600 and a trophy and Waqi USC Top One (RM300 and a trophy).

Meanwhile, Preston A team from Labuan emerged victorious in the 'Second chance' (loser side) group winning RM300 and a trophy and Intan Darters from Brunei claimed RM150 and a trophy as a first runner-up.

In the Women's Single Open, local darter Hjh Intan Hj Ahmad managed to finish in fifth place. Monica and Erika both from Sabah were crowned champion and first runner-up winning RM300 and RM150 with a trophy each respectively.

The Grand Borneo Hotel Operation Manager, Manickam Arasu, presented the prizes to the winners.

"Once again luck is not on our side although we played brilliantly all the way in the competition. We just need to keep on practising and training for the upcoming dart competition hosted in Labuan," said Pg Mohamed representing the Brunei teams.

Some 58 teams took part in the two-day (May 29 & 30) dart competition.

Brunei were represented by four teams, which include USC Dragon (Abbas & Hamizan), Intan Darters (Hj Adanan & Moksin), SSD 1 (Jamil & Andy Sham) and Waqi USC Top One.

The next dart competition will be held from June 25-27 at Manikar Beach Resort in Labuan.

KITCHEN Darters from Kota Kinabalu snatched the RM5,000 prize money and crowned champion of the 1″ Kuching Threesome Darts Championship in Kuching over the weekend.

The experienced dart team from Sabah beat team B7 from Sibu for second place and two Brunei teams Waqi Brunei USC Top One and BSRC Bur shared the third placing.

Team B7 won RM2,000 and trophy followed by the two Brunei teams winning RM500 and trophy each. The top 16 teams also received prizes.

Waqi Brunei USC Top One were represented by Pg Mohamed Pg Hj Matarsad, Mohd Hairulazman Hj Bujang and Sofian Metussin.

Balai Ringin Assemblyman Snowdan Lawan, who represented Social Development and Urbanisation Minister, Dato Sri William Mawan Ikom, gave away the prizes.

About 55 dart teams participated in the two-day championship (May 8-9) that included six teams from Brunei — Waqi Brunei USC Top One, Top Two, Top Three, Top Four, BSRC Bur and Puja D’rimba). The next dart championship (Double category) will be held in Kota Kinabalu in which team Waqi Brunei USC Top One have confirmed their participation.

KBT Brunei 3rd in dart contest

Brunei KBT team, comprised Pengiran Mohamed, Kamaluddin and Mohd Raffie, took the third spot in the dart championship hosted by the Bintulu Raggae Club.

The team brought home RM$400 and a trophy.

The two-day champion-ship was participated by 20 teams from Borneo, and included two teams from Brunei Darussalam, Brunei KBT and D’Rimba team.

In the semi finals, Brunei KBT team lost to the Black Scorpion, the host team and the overall champion. They won RM $3000 and a trophy.

The other Brunei team placed fifth.

Brunei KBT darters Muhammad Raffie and Nasaruddin were champions at the Miri Open Darts Doubles championship at the Rainforest Club over the weekend. The duo won a trophy and RM700. About 78 teams took part including 23 from Brunei.

Sabah Open Dart Tournament 2009

More than 45 teams participated in this tournament from Brunei Darussalam, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan , Tawau, Sandakan, Lahad Datu & team from the home town Kota Kinabalu. In team event , KITCHEN DARTERS KK emerged as Champion bagged home RM$ 7000 cash. Runner up goes to BRUNEI KBT who bagged home RM$ 3000 cash. While join 3rd & 4th goes to DREAM TEAM KL & PENAMPANG KK. In Single event Champion goes to Tengku Hadzali of KL , Runner up goes to Andadan of KL and join 3rd & 4th goes to Pg Mohammed of Brunei & Ah Heng of KK.

THE Brunei KBT Dart team made it to the third spot in the inaugural 27th Malaysia Open Dart Championship which took place at the Bayview Hotel in Langkawi, Malaysia last week.

From August 31 to September 2, some 50 teams participated in the tournament, which comprised teams coming from Dubai, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia as well as two teams from Brunei Brunei KBT, and BSRC, who managed to clinch the ninth place.

Led by the team leader, Pg Mohammad Pg Hj Matarsard, the Brunei KBT team was also represented by Kamaluddin Bongsu, Hairul Azman Hj Bujang, Hj Zuraini Hj Md Yassin and Dyg Kamariah Hj Suhai in the women's singles event.

With skills and precision, the Brunei KBT team cruised through the group stages but were brought down in the semi-finals, where they suffered a 7-4 loss to Singapore's national team, settling for third place.

Mad House from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia emerged champions, followed by Singapore's national team in second place and Kuala Lumpur's Golden Sun Dragon was in fourth.

In the singles event, Pg Mohammad and Hairul Azman were ranked between 17 to 32 of the best players, while in the women's singles, Dyg Kamariah earned her place in the fifth spot.

Team leader of the Brunei KBT team, Pg Hj Mohammad, expressed his delight and was impressed with his team's performance, proving they were a force to be reckoned with, even at an international level.

Once again, the Brunei darters did the country proud, after only recently coming out as first runner-ups in both the 2007 Singapore Open and the Dart Championships in Malaysia last August slowly but surely bringing up the country's name in the world of darts in preparation for next year's 2008 Asia Pacific Cup in New Zealand.
